What to Expect
Prior to your treatment, a local anaesthetic will be used to numb the areas that will be injected, ensuring you’re comfortable throughout.
To slim the jawline, the masseter muscle is injected with anti-wrinkle injections several times. Doing so will gradually soften the jaw and prevent any further damage to the teeth. If you do grind your teeth, you will also experience fewer headaches and less jaw pain.
At least 40 units are usually required to soften and slim the jaw, with the effects lasting up to six months. How soon you’ll require another treatment will depend on how quickly your body metabolises the injections.
Anti-wrinkle injections only take effect after several days. You may also notice some bruising and redness around the injections sites. Some tenderness may also be present but will fade within a few days. Patients are discouraged from lying down for a few hours after treatment and vigorous exercise is also not recommended for a few days. Any unnecessary movement of the jaw should be avoided for several hours after your treatment.
Ongoing treatments will be required to maintain the results and reduce teeth grinding.
