What is laser resurfacing

As we age, our skin begins to lose collagen and elastin: the two proteins that keep our skin looking healthy and supple. Unfortunately, these are common effects of the natural ageing process that can’t be avoided. They can, however, be reversed with the right treatments.

Laser Resurfacing with LaseMD

At Skin Confidence Clinic in Brisbane, we use LaseMD to help patients achieve tighter, firmer, and younger-looking skin. This state-of-the-art technology can address a broad range of skin concerns.

LaseMD uses fractional non-ablative laser technology to deliver tiny beams of light into the deeper layers of your skin. This creates deep, narrow columns within the underlying tissue that activates the natural wound healing process. This helps remove damaged skin cells on your skin’s surface and boosts collagen and elastin production in the target area.

LaseMD treatments can address sagging skin on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. It’s also ideal for lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and scarring. The result is healthier tissue that glows and a tighter, smoother appearance.

About the treatment

Laser Resurfacing with Fotona TwinLight

TwinLight treatments using the Fotona laser are the ideal way to stimulate collagen production and even out surface irregularities. Capable of treating a wide range of skin concerns, Fotona TwinLight can help you restore a more youthful appearance.

Fotona TwinLight treatments use a three-step process to revitalise the skin. The conditioning step uses an Nd:YAG laser beam to prepare the skin for treatment. Next is fractional therapy, which uses an Er:YAG wavelength to activate the skin’s natural healing response. Finally, the laser peeling step uses another Er:YAG beam to remove any superficial imperfections.

Treatments require absolutely no downtime and take just one hour to complete. Whether you are looking for a gentle treatment or more intense remodelling, Fotona TwinLight treatments are incredibly versatile.

Treatments can be fully customised because the system works with three different levels:

Level I is ideal for the treatment of scarring and pigmentation. It can also be used to improve the tone and texture of the skin.

Level II is best for reducing the effects of mild to moderate sun damage.

Level III is ideal for skin sagging, fine lines and severe sun damage. It also causes the skin to flake lightly for several days after treatment.

Ideal candidates for fractional laser resurfacing

During your consultation at Skin Confidence Clinic, we will review your medical history and assess your specific concerns. This allows us to create a personalised treatment plan based on your needs. In general, you are an ideal candidate for the procedure if:

  • You have signs of skin ageing
  • You have scars caused by acne, surgery, or trauma
  • You have enlarged pores
  • You have sun-damaged skin
  • You have uneven skin tone and texture
  • You have realistic expectations and a positive outlook

How many treatments do I need to achieve my desired results?

The number of treatments you will need will depend on your skin condition and goals. In general, you will need 3-4 LaseMD sessions to get the results you want. Each treatment is usually scheduled a month apart. For best results, LaseMD is combined with other treatments to help you reach your cosmetic goals.

How long will each treatment last?

Each treatment usually lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. However, this will depend on the size and number of body areas that need improvement.

What will the treated area look like after the procedure?

It is normal to experience slight redness and swelling in the treated area after the procedure. You don’t have to worry because this is part of your body’s natural healing response and will disappear after a few days. Laser resurfacing treatments require no downtime, meaning that you can immediately resume your daily routine.

Is the procedure painful?

The level of pain and discomfort felt will depend on your pain tolerance and the body area being treated. You may feel a stinging or burning sensation as the laser passes through your skin. This is usually tolerable and can be compared to a rubber band snapping against your skin. For your comfort, we will apply a numbing cream to your skin before the procedure.

How much does laser resurfacing cost in Brisbane?

At Skin Confidence, we treat every patient as the individual they are. The cost of your laser resurfacing treatment will depend on a number of factors, such as the severity of your skin concerns and the size of the treated area.

During your initial consultation at Skin Confidence, we will examine your skin and recommend a treatment plan. At this time, we will provide a detailed breakdown of the costs involved.
