What is Mesotherapy
As we age, our skin can’t bounce back and isn’t as resilient as it used to be. Stress, sun exposure and impurities don’t help the health of our skin either. Hydration levels and collagen and elastin decline, resulting in sagging, lines, wrinkles and pigmentation. The healthier you can keep your skin as you get older, the better.
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical treatment that rejuvenates the face and neck using hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that’s naturally found in the body, ensuring there are little to no side effects after this treatment. By injecting this substance into the middle layer of the skin, it stimulates the skin’s metabolism. The result is firmer, plumper skin as a result of the gradual increase in collagen and elastin.
What to Expect
Once a topical anaesthetic has been applied to the skin, a series of small injections containing hyaluronic acid is injected into the epidermis and mesoderm. Not only will the injections nourish the skin but they’ll increase cellular activity too, resulting in an increase in collagen and elastin.
Directly after your treatment at Skin Confidence Clinic, your skin will look firmer and more hydrated and radiant. There may be some slight swelling and tenderness around the injection sites but this will clear up within 48 hours.
The average mesotherapy treatment takes anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes depending on what needs to be achieved. A series of at least four treatments at two to four-week intervals is recommended for the best results.
Patients are free to resume their regular activities directly after their mesotherapy appointment. However, it’s best to avoid saunas, steam rooms, direct sun exposure and any strenuous activities for at least a day afterwards. Specific aftercare instructions will also need to be followed.

Ideal Candidates for Mesotherapy
A consultation will first be required prior to undergoing mesotherapy treatments. This way, we can ensure you would benefit from these injections and that there’s no unknown risk of complications. Almost anyone is an ideal candidate for mesotherapy sessions. Patients who want to address lines and wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation and an uneven skin tone can benefit from these injections. Patients should be in good general health and have realistic expectations about what can be achieved.
While you are free to resume your normal activities after a mesotherapy treatment, some patients prefer to take a day off. Mainly because the swelling lasts for a day or two. You may find that the eye area takes a bit longer to settle. After each treatment, patients can expect their results to gradually appear over the course of several weeks. The most noticeable results will appear after you’ve completed your treatment plan. Over the long term, you can expect your treatment results to last anywhere from 12 to 18 months. Thereafter, top-up treatments will be required.
