What is Pore Minimisation
Pores refer to the small openings located at the top of the hair follicles that release sebum, which helps keep the skin naturally moisturised. Pores are essential to the health of your skin but it can be frustrating once they become enlarged.
Some of the main reasons why pores become larger, include:
- Genetics. Patients with large pores generally have other family members with large pores too.
- Age. As the skin loses elasticity, it starts to sag, which can give the pores a larger appearance.
- Sun Damage. Over the years, sun exposure can thicken the skin, which alters the size of the pores. The sun also removes collagen and elastin, causing the tissue underneath the skin to shrink and stretch the pores.
- Blackheads. When the pores become clogged with sebum, blackheads can appear. Along with making the pores more visible, they can also stretch them. A buildup of dead skin cells can also clog and stretch the pores.
Pore Minimisation with Infini RF
At Skin Confidence Clinic, we use the Infini RF system to treat enlarged pores. A personal consultation will first be required to determine whether you’re an ideal candidate though.
Infini RF uses radiofrequency to tighten the pores. The heat that’s generated stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.
The system also incorporates microneedling technology, which helps rejuvenate the skin at a deeper level.

About the pore minimisation procedure
As the Infini RF handpiece is moved across the skin, patients will experience a warm, tingling sensation. The device can be set to different depths depending on what needs to be achieved.
Each pore minimisation session lasts about 45 minutes and patients are free to resume their normal routine directly after their appointment. There will be some redness and swelling that occurs, which will last for several days. You will need to avoid using your usual skincare products and makeup for at least three days after your appointment. Sun exposure should be avoided for at least two weeks.
Several sessions are usually required to achieve the desired outcome. You will see noticeable results directly after your Infini RF appointment but results develop gradually over the course of two months.
The results of this technology can last for several years but this doesn’t mean the skin won’t be affected by the natural ageing process. Annual maintenance treatments are also recommended to enhance and prolong results.
