Why choose Fotona NightLase
Aside from disrupting a bed partner’s sleep, snoring can be a sign of more serious health risks, such as obstructive sleep apnea. If you are looking to improve the quality of your sleep, Fotona NightLase is designed to decrease snoring and reduce the effects of sleep apnea.
Fotona NightLase is a non-surgical, non-invasive laser treatment that gently tightens the tissues in the back of the throat. Unlike other snoring treatments that require wearable devices or medication, NightLase works by contracting collagen in the oral mucosa tissue.
How it works
As mentioned, Fotona NightLase treatments are designed to correct snoring. During sleep, the muscles in the roof of the mouth, tongue and throat relax. If relaxed enough, this can block your airways and cause the nose and throat tissues to vibrate.
Fotona NightLase treatments use laser energy to gently heat the tissues at the back of the throat. This stimulates the production of collagen in those areas, working to expand airways and eliminate tissue vibration. As a result, snoring is dramatically reduced.
What to expect
Prior to your treatment, we recommend having a consultation at Skin Confidence to discuss your concerns and procedure expectations, after which we can create a treatment plan.
Fotona NightLase treatments take around 30 minutes to complete. During treatment, a special device may be used to hold your jaw forward. Using the specialised handpiece, laser energy will be administered to the targeted area of the soft palate and throat. You may experience a tingling or warming sensation, however, treatments overall are relatively painless. After your Fotona NightLase treatment, you are immediately free to resume your regular activities.

Ideal candidates for Fotona NightLase
Fotona NightLase treatments are ideal for patients who are experiencing poor sleep quality due to snoring and are at risk of developing sleep apnea. The best way to determine whether Fotona NightLase will be a suitable treatment for you is to have a consultation at our clinic.
Fotona NightLase results
While results will vary from patient to patient, many notice a reduction in snoring and improvement in their sleep quality immediately after their first treatment. However, collagen production takes time, meaning that it will take time for full results to develop. Once your NightLase sessions have been completed, the size of your airways should be noticeably larger. As a result, you can expect to feel more rested when you first wake, and your bed partner should report a dramatic reduction in snoring volume and intensity. Results usually last between 12 to 18 months, after which you will require annual maintenance treatments.
How many treatments will I need?
To achieve the best possible results, we usually recommend three treatments, spaced three to four weeks apart. To maintain this, we suggest follow-up treatments every year.
Fotona NightLase recovery
There is absolutely no downtime required after a Fotona NightLase treatment, meaning that you are free to resume your daily activities immediately. You may experience some slight throat irritation following your treatment, however, this is normal and should resolve within 24 to 48 hours.
