What are Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are the coloured lines or white streaks that appear on your skin when it undergoes rapid growth. These marks are essentially tears that occur when the skin can’t stretch and adapt quickly enough.
While women are more likely to develop stretch marks than men due to pregnancy, men aren’t completely immune, especially if they gain a significant amount of weight. Even an increase in muscle size can cause stretch marks in men.
The areas where they most commonly appear are the stomach, breasts, thighs, arms, lower back and hips.
Stretch marks start off with a red or purple appearance and slowly become white over time. It’s very rare for stretch marks to disappear completely on their own. They may fade with the right treatment though. Marks that are red in colour are much easier to treat. This is because functioning blood vessels are still present under the skin. It’s when the blood vessels narrow and don’t function like they once did that collagen production diminishes.
White stretch marks can still be treated but the results aren’t always as dramatic as red or purple marks.

The Infini system uses a combination of microneedling and radiofrequency to tighten and improve the overall quality of skin.

Fotona SP Dynamis Pro
At Skin Confidence, are proud to offer Fotona treatments: an innovative laser system capable of treating a wide range of skin and body concerns. Treatments work by delivering laser energy into the damaged skin cells, which works to remodel collagen and, in time, fade the appearance of stretch marks.
Fotona laser treatments combine Nd:YAG and Er:YAG laser wavelengths to rejuvenate and tighten the skin. During treatment, you may experience a subtle warming sensation, however this should not cause any major discomfort. Fotona laser treatments are highly customisable and produce effective results in just a matter of treatments. Plus, with no downtime required, you can return to your daily routine immediately after treatment.
During treatment, a handheld device that contains a series of fine needles is moved across the surface of the skin, creating micro-injuries. The reason why we prefer to use the Infini system is because it offers greater control of the depth of the needles. This ensures the delivery of radiofrequency energy is more precise.
Patients of all skin types can benefit from this treatment but several treatments are generally required to achieve the desired outcome. You can expect to see a noticeable improvement in skin quality directly after your session. Results will continue to improve over the course of three to six months.
Each treatment takes about 45 minutes to complete but this depends on how many areas you want to treat.

LaseMD
This unique laser treatment uses fractional and thulium fibre laser technology to rejuvenate the skin and reduce the appearance of stretch marks. As the device creates controlled microscopic thermal injuries across the treatment site, it stimulates the skin’s natural healing response. This increases collagen in the area, which improves the appearance and quality of the skin.
There are three levels that can be used during LaseMD treatment – level III is generally the preferred choice for stretch marks. A warm tingling sensation can be expected as the applicator moves over the skin. Several sessions are required to achieve a noticeable difference.
The average treatment lasts about 30 minutes and patients can expect some slight redness and potentially some flaking after a few days.
Venus Legacy
Venus Legacy treatments tighten loose skin and boost collagen levels to repair and smooth out the skin. This is done using multipolar radiofrequency and pulsed electromagnetic fields. The skin regeneration process is activated when the heat from the Venus Legacy applicator penetrates the cells at a deep level.
Treatment is safe for all skin types and they’re both safe and comfortable. The temperature of the applicator can be adjusted during the treatment if you feel it’s getting too hot. No downtime is required either.
The average treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete but this depends on the number of areas you want to target. It also helps if your skin is hydrated prior to treatment and free of any creams or makeup.
