Why choose PrimeLase HR

Unwanted hair – it’s an issue that both men and women deal with. Shaving, waxing and hair removal creams all work but only for so long. It’s not long before you need to attend to unwanted facial and body hair all over again. Plus, there’s the issue of having to deal with painful, ingrown hairs.

Laser hair removal is not a new technology but Primelase is an innovative new system that’s changing how people remove unwanted hair. Not only is it 10 times more powerful than standard laser systems but its larger spot size means bigger areas can be treated much faster.

The Primelase system is ideal for use on all skin and hair types and is one of the more affordable options available on the market today. Mostly because fewer sessions are required to achieve the same result.

Following a Primelase treatment plan, hair removal results will be permanent and the quality of your skin will improve too. If you struggle with folliculitis, a condition that causes hair follicle inflammation, Primelase sessions can help with this too.

What to Expect

Prior to your Primelase session, it’s essential that you don’t discolour the hair or skin. This means suntanning, sunbeds and self-tanning products should be avoided.

As the applicator moves across the treatment area, the pigment surrounding the hair follicles absorbs the laser light. As the laser light heats up the follicle at the root, it damages it and it falls out. Optimal wavelengths are used to deliver high energy while the built-in cooling system will keep you comfortable throughout your session.

The duration of your appointment will depend on the size and number of areas you want to treat. Since the Primelase system is designed to speed up treatments, a full leg can take as little as 10 minutes to complete. Treating a smaller area such as the upper lip can take less than a minute.

Most patients won’t require more than 6 sessions to achieve the desired outcome. Most other laser systems require twice as many sessions. The thickness and colour of the hair, as well as skin type, all play a role in how many sessions you will require. Each session can be scheduled 4 – 6 weeks apart, which means you should refrain from waxing or plucking any hair that regrows after each session.

It’s important to note that the Primelase system won’t damage your skin, it only targets the melanin in the hair follicles.

Directly after your session, it’s important that the treated area not sweat, which means exercise should be avoided for 24 hours. Any steam rooms, saunas and sunbeds will also need to be avoided for the first day after treatment. It’s also important to wear sunscreen on the treated area before you leave the house in between Primelase sessions. Basically, the aim is for your skin and hair to stay the same colour in between your treatments.

What Areas Can Be Treated with Primelase?

The Primelase system can be used to treat any area of the face or body where unwanted hair is present, including the upper lip, arms, chest, back and legs. As you can imagine, the more areas you want to treat, the longer your sessions will be. You may also want to space out your sessions and only focus on one area at a time – the choice is yours.

Ideal Candidates for Primelase Sessions

If you want to permanently reduce unwanted hair on your face or body, Primelase treatments might be right for you. There are a few instances where patients might not be suitable candidates though, including:

  • Experienced keloid scarring in the past
  • Problems with other types of laser therapy in the past
  • Active infection in the treatment area
  • Used other hair removal methods 6 weeks before the Primelase session,
  • including waxing and plucking
  • Sensitive to bleaching agents
  • Use of Accutane 6 weeks before the Primelase session

This treatment is also not suitable for pregnant or nursing women, those with cancer or any other active skin condition in the treated area. If the treated area is tattooed, it also can’t be treated.

Once your requirements and your medical history are evaluated during your consultation, we can determine whether you’re an ideal candidate.

Primelase Results

After several Primelase sessions, the unwanted hair will be gone for good. The hair will not grow back unless hormonal fluctuations occur. Hormonal changes can lead to new hair growth, which will require further sessions.
